The kids are sleeping later, which I like. They get up now around 8-ish. Scheduling for next semester looks fun. 18 credits over 4 days. Mom and Dad are moving up here next weekend due to the camp closing. They'll be living in Gwinn until Dad either decides he likes living in the Marquette area and working at the prison here, or he retires in June. They don't want to sell their house yet until they make a decision on where they will live. Mom has already told me that I can pull the kids out of daycare once they are up here to save money for us. She'll have Dad drive her in on his way to work.
Kids will be going trick-or-treating this year for the first time. I'm just taking them to the campus trick-or-treating time, which they are no longer doing at the UC, but at different dorm halls and apartment complexes. They will be going as Target employees since Jason works there and everyone thinks it will be cute. We have khakis and red shirts for them, and Jason is getting some vendor tags from work for them to wear. I will be going as a tired mom, in my jammies, robe and fuzzy slippers.
Seri-I seem to recall hearing that you are/have gotten married this month. Congratulations, and if it hasn't happened yet, future congratulations.

    <lj:music>How it's made on Discovery Channel</lj:music>

Well, it seems that I don't have to worry about Jason and his video games any longer. He still plays, but he asks me if I need/want something done before he starts, has no problem if I ask him something while he is playing, and he has started helping more around the house. The house is still no where near as clean as I would like it, but that won't happen until the kids are older anyway. The dishes get done on a regular basis(i.e. after each meal) laundry is done, folded and put away each night, I<strike>'m no longer afraid of the shower floor or the toilet sea</strike>t(not that I ever was, as I am the one who cleans the bathroom twice a week), and there are no more fuzzies or stickies on the floor. I am also getting enough time to study/do homework, and it looks like I might actually get a 4.0 this semester.
Jason got Halo today, and seems to like it. I've seen a new survival horror game that I might like, it's called Dead Space, and it takes a lot from Event Horizon, which is the only movie that still scares the living bejesus out of me. Yay for scary things.
I need a shower and sleep.

I am feeling much better today after a long conversation with Jason last night. I did some research into game addictions and looked into game widow groups. I think Seri is right, and that it's more of the fact that doing work at home doesn't come naturally to most men. He has agreed to limit his game time and to help me more. I am looking for a local sitter for a few times a month so that we can get out without the kids every once in a while. And Rocco had some wonderful ideas, and while I'm not too keen on more games, maybe something that we can do together or something would be the right thing.
Jason just called, and he might be getting a new position at Target, which would give him every weekend off and have him out at 230 in the afternoon. I told him to accept, and we will see what happens. So, all in all, I am in a much better mood.
The babies are in big boy beds now, which means that they can get out of bed when I put them down for naps. Which makes today the seventh day in a row where they have not taken naps. They have been in their room for about an hour now, and I guess I have to go and get them so they don't think they are being punished. They also don't go to sleep right away now, since they can get out of bed. I put them down around 7ish each night, and the don't actually fall asleep until 10 or so. But, they are so tired at 7 they are walking into walls, but if one gets up, the other does too. And Liam is an early riser, so they get up at 6 or so every morning. Which makes me a tired mommy.

What is it with games? I'm not a big person for video games, but I am trying to become interested, just so I might be able to spend time with Jason. We've been together almost eight years, married for five of them, and the video games have always been there.
We have a Wii, PS2 and a 360. I don't know how many games we have for them. I only play two games, Okami and Wii Sports. I try to watch while he plays games, but it doesn't really interest me. He never notices me, unless he wants something from me. I've tried everything I can think of, from trying to share his interests, letting him play as long as he wants, and threatening to sell the systems and games.
I'm a full time student and mother to special needs twins. I take 16 credits, work part time and take my boys to all their appointments, therapists and playgroups. He treats me going back to school like it's a hobby instead of something we really need-he has an art degree that is gathering dust while he works at Target. I'm expected to clean and cook for him, but he gets to sit on his ass and play video games. If I ask him to do something, he does it the quickest he can so he can get back to his damn game. He got very mad at me when I told him I didn't want him to get BioShock, because it is so violent. He went ahead and got it anyway, but will only play it after the boys are in bed.
He's agreed to counseling, but hasn't called to make an appointment. I ask him every few days, and he promises he'll schedule one the next day. I asked him why he never spends time with me, and he said that if given the choice, he will do what he wants to do as long as he can. At this point, I don't know if it's worth it for me to stay with him. I can't talk to my friends about this, because they are all gamers too. Am I irrational, or do I have valid gripes?

<lj:music>Too Low For Zero-- Elton John</lj:music>

Vacation was nice. An entire week with Jason, no interruptions. The kids loved seeing their other grandparents, and the weather couldn't have been better. Liam finally got used to the lake, and it was a knock-down drag-out fight to get him out of the water when he was cold or needed more sunscreen. No sunburns to report, either! Yay!
Got home and Mom had to go into the hospital. Internal bleeding was the admitting criteria, but they never found where the blood was coming from! Four transfusions and four days later she was allowed to go home. What did she do then? She decided to go to Wisconsin with me to take Dominick to an appointment. Said she wanted to make sure I didn't fall asleep on the 6 hour drive. Lucky I had her, too. It was a long-ass day that started with Liam getting sick all over the back of the car about an hour outside the Wisconsin border. So, he wasn't feeling the best that day, but he was back at 100% the next day. Come Friday night, D's puking his guts up during the night, and I start with the same about 3 am or so. Jason had the weekend off, and THANK GOD for that! All I did was sleep and vomit and sleep some more. Jay went back to work today, and of course, Dominick gets sick again. I'm still not feeling the best. My doctor told me that I was ripe for this bug to hit me, and if I can, she wants me to rest for a week, just to get the energy I need. Hah! Like that will happen. Maybe if she wants to pay our bills when Jason's paycheck is cut in half for missing a week of work. I'm going to be making an early night of it, I think.
My cousin's wife had a baby last weekend, born at 24 weeks, like mine were. Kendall passed away two days after she was born. Michelle just got discharged from the hospital a few days ago. Any of you down in S.C. think of my cousin, please.

<lj:music>Did I Shave My Legs For This? DeAnna Carter</lj:music>

I honestly can't remember when I last updated, so here goes.
Since the state decided to close the prison my Dad works at, we are left wondering where he will work. He is the most senior maintenance supervisor in the state, so he has his bumping rights. Problem is, he has to bump the least senior in the three contiguous counties, which means he has to bump the guy from Newberry, who happens to be my Dad's best friend. Alger might be able to take Dave after Dad bumps him, then Dad can transfer to Alger and Alger will loan him out to Cusino. Confused, anyone? Alger wants Dad, they want to loan him to Cusino, but to get there he needs to bump his friend out of his job. How this is supposed to save the state money, I have no idea. All of Manistique's employees will be absorbed into other facilities, the prisoners will be transferred to other facilities, so it's not like they are saving money by reducing the payroll or the cost of keeping inmates. They say that the operating costs of this prison will be able to save them millions, but I don't see it.
Jason and I have been married for 5 years now. Mom and Dad took the kids for the weekend so we could celebrate. However, Thursday, Liam got sick. He wound up in ER twice, and was admitted to the hospital at Mom and Dad's Thursday night with pneumonia. He is fine now, but he was one sick little boy there for a while.
We go on vacation this weekend, down to Cathead Bay. Jay's parents and brother will be there, so the cottage will be a little crowded. Good news is that since we are bringing the kids, we all get the master bedroom. Which means we have a double bed, a set of bunk beds and enough room to cram the kids playpens in there and still be able to turn around. I just finished sewing a pillowtop thingie for the kids playpens. Oh, and I made them little pillows too, since they love to snuggle up to the throw pillows I have on the couch. If any of you ever hear me mention that I want to take up a small sewing project, please smack some sense into me. I sew so infrequently that I always forget how much I hate to do it when I decide that I can make something simple, like pillow tops for the playpens, or a skirt to cover the area under the bathroom sink. And just think, Halloween is coming up, and I have two small children. I don't like the idea of the bought costumes with the masks, so it looks like I'll be getting creative around here.

Got the new Harry Potter book Saturday. Finished it that night. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't thrilled with it, either. My favorite character got killed, and I thought the final chapter was kind of tacked on to keep some people from being very angry. Anyway, I should run. Got to clean up and get new tires on the van and set up an alignment and oil change for it while I'm at it.

Everyone thinks we're crazy because our kids have an early bedtime. I see these people who have their kids-little kids- out way late, and ours are in bed by 630 at the latest. They get up very early, and this gives us a chance to see eachother and enjoy some quiet time before we go to bed. Am I crazy to put the kids down so early? My neighbors do, since they told me they don't want to keep it down so the kids can sleep. I hate college kids.

Saw the doctor yesterday and got some so-so news.

So. I haven't had a period since December. Not pregnant, no more little chibis for Kate. Mildly concerened, but I take a wait-and-see approach. Finally get insurance again and go to the doctor. She thinks I may have some thing called poly-cystic ovary syndrome, or somesuch that is close to that. Had some ultrasounds and bloodwork done today, then I get to go and see her in two weeks. Checking on the symptoms, it seems that I do have this disorder, which means hormone therapy for life, from what I can tell. The alternative is to risk cancer, heart disease and blood pressure problems. Looks like I'm back on the pill.

So, nothing life-threatening at this time, just annoying. Grr.

Classes start Monday, and last a whopping three weeks. Woohoo.

Think I may find a sitter Friday and see Shrek with Jason. Sounds like fun.

Mom’s doing much better, and we still don’t know what caused the septicemia. Think I’m gonna read my book and maybe play a video game.

Edit: Is anyone else having problems cutting text? Or is my journal just stupid?
